Hazardous Waste and Solid Waste Analyses

Reducing the environmental impact of hazardous and solid waste is crucial for creating a healthy living space and a sustainable environment. At ARITSAN Çevre Laboratuvarı, we take pride in providing you with the most accurate and reliable analysis services for this important task. In this article, you will find detailed information on the importance and processes of hazardous and solid waste analyses, as well as the services offered by ARITSAN Çevre Laboratuvarı.

Waste is generated as part of our daily lives and needs to be disposed of in various ways. It can originate from residential, industrial, commercial, and construction sources. Proper management of solid waste is essential to prevent environmental pollution and conserve natural resources.

The list of wastes included in the "Waste Management Regulation" is provided in Annex-4. Wastes marked with an asterisk (*) in the waste list are considered hazardous waste. Hazardous wastes are those that possess one or more of the properties listed in Annex-3/A. Wastes marked with (A) in the waste list fall into the hazardous waste category regardless of the concentration of hazardous substances listed in Annex-3/B. The hazardous properties of wastes marked with (M) need to be determined. In these cases, evaluations related to properties H3-H8 and H10 and H11 in Annex-3/A are based on the concentration values in Annex-3/B.

Hazardous waste analyses are carried out according to the criteria listed in Annex-11A of the "Control of Hazardous Wastes Regulation" or the criteria listed in Annex-2 of the "Regulation on the Landfilling of Wastes" published in the Official Gazette.

Importance of Hazardous and Solid Waste Analyses

Hazardous and solid waste analyses are a critical step in the proper classification, disposal, and recycling processes of these wastes. Analyses provide detailed information about the content, hazard level, and environmental impact of the waste. This information plays a vital role in forming waste management strategies and ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

To determine the hazardous properties of waste, analysis studies based on material safety data sheets, process inputs and information, guides published by the Ministry, or concentration values listed in Annex-3/B are used. If deemed necessary by the Ministry, analyses based on the concentration values in Annex-3/B are conducted by the waste producer or owner. These analyses are carried out by laboratories accredited by the Ministry for Annex-3/B.

Relevant Regulations

  • Regulation on the Landfilling of Wastes
